Thanks and gooddye

Hi all,

I have decided to get out the Rangey and yesterday Px'd for a 2011 Discovery 4 HSE....

The rangey I loved but the reliability on mine was a regular issue, add that to the fact I am going to buy a large caravan and the Disco has a tow specific function the decision was made. Have to say I was very impressed with the drive and I was expecting a non Range Rover drive but it's pretty..... comparable.....

Anyway a huge thanks to you all for your help on occasions with tips and hints and sadly someone will get a gem as most of my car was new in terms of bits Rolling with laughter ,, shame it's going to auction really !! I shall miss spotting the occasional orange bits as it was the Landrover G4 Press car originally

Cheers Thumbs Up

it most certainly does, having seen some so called "press" idiots driving brand new Range Rovers through deep sea water, then having the vehicle airbourne over sand dunes, crashing through and over beach boulders and then doing doughnuts on tarmac....

barely fit to break for spares never mind hit the pre-owned market Sad

What do you mean by 'tow specific function'?

I ask because I tow a lot and I think my RR has all the tow functions I need apart from not seeing the towball in the rear view camera.

Hi Ian

I am told there is a setting within the computer that allows you to selct the type of trailer and if say a caravan it will set the suspension accordingly thus stabilising the trailer better, it's in one of the sub menus apparantly..

Also with the reverse cam it helps guide the reversing angles etc...

Looks impressive,... will know more when I can have a play Thursday Thumbs Up

Given we are on the subject of towing... does the FF have a self levelling function when towing? I only ask as when I was pulling onto a garage forecourt when towing the car trailer a few days back, I noticed the car suspension adjusting itself.

Clearly I could RTFM instead but its in the car and its nice and warm in here and raining out there! Whistle Lloyd Barnes

My 2010 (2011my) has the trailer function, you tell it what sort of trailer and tell it single or twin axle and length from axle to tow bar. It does remember so you do not have to change it each time.

It alters the stability control, I think.

I also have the reversing aid but you need to buy the target to put on the trailer, looks like a small sticker in the options book but when you buy it it is 7" x 7", not something I want stuck to the front window of the van.

Lloyd,

Yes, it does. It senses the trailer electrics connected and will lock the suspension into normal height mode so that the tow ball height remains level regardless of the speed ( I.e. wont squat down into motorway mode at higher speed ) V8 or else ...
