Japseroony, thanks for the thought, but I have made my mind up to go with JE, I've been thinking about it for quite a while and have considered most of the options from the other major remap companies, but the fact JE specialise in Land Rover products, and have remapped their own FFRR and used it for many thousands of miles, and all of the good reports about JE from forum members makes you feel confident that the remap will not cause any issues in the future. Regards, Steve |

Part of the problem with graphs and figures is that they only tell you facts about just that, who has the most power/torque at a certain point and not about drivability. More grunt as you say is easily achieved but is the actual drive of the vehicle overall a good one? As an example, take stage 1 & 2 on a Disco 2. Stage 1 gives you around 160bhp but stage 2 gives more like 185bhp, but the trouble is it only kicks in at the point you wish to change gear and offers very little low down grunt but a big kick just as you reach max revs etc!! BAS clearly know what they are doing as they were the first to re-map the Defender TDCi and remove the speed limiter, first to re-map the Disco 4 by splitting the ECU and the first to offer a switchable re-map on the RRS, Disco3, Defender and FFRR etc etc. Just some thoughts from someone that has some limited knowledge in re-mapping. "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence. "TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you. |

Think DMS who are very well known are right up there with proper mapping have been using them for years on all sorts of cars , never had any issues , but not as cheap as many and it often takes far longer than 60 mins as each map is done for each car by downloading looking at the data and installing a baseline then altering to suit that car and your requirements. Including Torque delimiters on the auto box etc. For example my 2009 TDV8 took over 3 hours at the house inc 3 test drives until they were satisfied with the car. Far to many gone... |

It is booked for the remap tomorrow afternoon, I can't wait. I will let them kow about the forum and thanks for the advice. Only issue for me now is it is mainly my wife's car and I have been told not to do it. I am hoping she will believe the difference in power is due to super diesel in the tank. |

Still feels great, I didn,t tell my local service department when the car went for new ball joints, when the car was brought round to me the chap was laughing at the way it pulled. It still goes back to land rover for servicing so the fact they noticed without being told is a good sign. With regards to mpg I am not the best person to ask as I tend to drive with my foot down all the time, around town it does about 18 and on the motorway it does a little better. As a comparison I also run a mercedes cls 320cdi with a brabus d6 chip, that is very quick and the mpg on both cars is very similar. |
