Ford changed to a 2.9 in about 1988..........

........see....... nobody noticed it !

I don't argue often... But i'll say the wiki is wrong!
I worked as a salesman for Ford from 87 to 90ish... (i still have my original RS 500 locked away for my retirement) Worked for Evans Halshaw in Bristol (the first RS dealer in the southwest) where we sold the XR4X4 in both guises...

mk2 came out in 87 with the more smoother shape had the 2.9

if you have a original RS500 there are people onthe RS forum paying top money highest price i have seen was £75000 so far

I have the original brochures somewhere........

The XR4 register say that the 2.9 XR4x4 was launched in December 1988.

I know some of the early "Mk2" cars were 2.8's as I test drove a few when I bought the 2.9.

Out of interest, what did the different colour cam covers on the Cossies relate to ? I think there was red, blue and green, but can't remember ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Red was RS500,3dr,and all non cat equipped sapphires,
green is for sapphires WITH cat and
blue is for the Large Turbo Escort Cossie.
