Another Blackvue install

I've decided to get a Blackvue camera and will be installing next week, just a couple of questions for those who have done it or have knowledge of how to:

I will run the power cable along the headlining and down the A pillar then get power from the fuse box with the piggyback fuse holder mentioned by nicedayforit ? (Mini version for 2010>)

It looks like the unit comes with a cigarette plug but the unit is 12V so I can just cut it off and hard wire it to the piggyback circuit ?

Thanks Thumbs Up 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

make 100% sure it is a 12 volt input, if so then no problem doing a hardwire.. ... - .- -.

An easy way to install the cable from the camera is to poke it behind the front edge of the headlining and run it across to the A post then ease it down behind the top edge of the A post trim where it meets the headlining over to the top of the door seal.
You will then find that you can prise the door seal inner edge back ( which doesn't disturb the door seal) which gives you access to behind the the the A post trim and then down past the glove box.
You pop the cable out from behind the door seal at the bottom edge of of the glove box. Then remove the top footwell panel and you have the cable below the fuse box. The cable is then concealed all the way down.
Takes a couple of minutes.
You then have to get into the fuse box, no idea how on 2010 on.
You can certainly cut the cigarette plug off provided it isn't a tranformer unit as Stan mentions and connect the +ve cable to the piggyback connector.
You will need to connect the the -ve cable to an earth point, probably a bolt below the fuse board.
The only problem I can see with cutting the plug off is if the camera goes faulty and you need to return it.

Thanks for the tips Thumbs Up Think I have a female ciggy socket in the garage somewhere, I might use that until I know the unit works properly and then hardwire it later Thumbs Up 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

Now fitted, I ran the cable as nicedayforit recommended and that worked a treat Thumbs Up
I removed the left hand side kick panel and the kick panel underneath the glove box to place the ciggy adaptor out of place and wired it in with the add a circuit (plugged into the ciggy lighter fuse)

Sees to work great, the only problem is they have changed the design to silver rather than black so it’s a bit more visible which is not ideal. Once Im happy that it all works well I will cut off the power adaptor and had wire it although it's a single cable so I will need to work out which part is + and - Thanks for the help Thumbs Up 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

The connector at the end of the camera (ciggie adapter) should unscrew, it may even reveal a fuse. But once dismantled you can see which wire is which. You could also unsolder the joints?

Personally, I would leave it as it setup now, then your Blackvue is still a complete product, if you decide to remove from vehicle, you already have a connector there for something else. .

What ever happened to the LR trailair camera system.
Seems to me it may be better to 'bolt' an extra one on instead of waiting for the FFRR release....
