SO i changed my wheels to 19" versions which have no TPMS valves ont hem - and now I have the incredibly irritating flashing then solid warning light telling me there is a TPMS system fault,
Bearing in mind the system is the best part of useless even when it works, how do I disable this?? I pulled the fuse, but that didn;t seem to work, so I put it back....any ideas - it just doesnt seem worth the expense to buy new valves , take the tyres off and then refit......
anty help gratefully received - I just cant bear warning lights - they drive me mad when they tell me soemthign I know perfectly well!!!

My local dealer said it carn't be done


They then went and bust the only 1 left, on the spare idiots

Hope you dont mind me hijacking the thread briefly, I was about to start a new one then saw this. I want to change to 19"'s on my 55plate exterior facelift vogue. How do I know if tpms is fitted and if so, If I fitted a set of new landrover wheels would the sensors just work or would they need 'pairing' to the car?

There is a button on the dash that looks like a flat tyre with an exclamation mark. Opposite the DSC button I believe, under the parking sensor button. 

And in response to OP I know is not the answer you are looking for buy you can buy replacement sensors, you have to make sure you get the correct frequency, but I "think" BMW ones (around £30) will work.

It's been optional fit since 2002.

I think you are right there. Isn't TPMS mandatory in the US now (maybe from 2007?) I suppose it's easier for LR just to install it as standard on every car now than mess about.

I've been interested in retrofitting the system to mine, not impossible, but a little too expensive for me to seriously consider it.

Fact of the day:

There are two types of TPMS.

1. Wheel sensors with RF Senders and Receivers monitor the pressure of the air in the tyre and relay that to a TPMS ECU.

2. The ABS ECU calculates the rolling diameter of each wheel & tyre, a flat/low tyre will be smaller and have to turn more in comparison to fully inflated wheels.

BMW uses both of above, but only 1. fitted to BMW X5/ Range Rover.

The RR system liaises with the vehicle alarm and is constantly "active" it will sound the alarm if there is rapid deflation of any of the wheels (tyre being slashed).
