Anyone sitting on a TD6 engine?

Well, bad news from the garage, when my turbo blew it took the whole Censored engine with it.

If anyone has got a decent TD6 engine can you let me know? My indy has got a quote of £1650 which is essentially a recon block with new pistons etc and a 6 month warranty from some place in Essex. As i've never had a car need a new engine before i dont know if this is good, bad or average.

Not a happy boy.

Well a new engine is £4-5K ++ .

Oh Censored .

I just called my warranty company. They said that I had the Gold Plus. This doesn't cover the turbo or damage done from a failing one.

Censored .

Yep, my indy is a top bloke, I'll take his recommendation of what is best to do.

God almighty the Mrs is going to go absolutely Censored apeshit when I tell her the summer holiday is off.

Shocked That is poor news about the warranty.. Who were you with? Gold plus sounds like a quality bells and whistle policy, but obviously not. Previously..

Where do we stand on the replacement of the crankcase breather filter ?

I'm sure on another post you mentioned you'd not changed for the newer cone type unit.

The filter one I believe to be part of the service schedule.

When they block, they send oil everywhere it shouldn't go, and stuff the turbo.....

If you can prove it hasn't been changed by a garage when being serviced and should have.............you may have a case to claim against them ?

(But may be your independant chap who is trying to help you.....? so not ideal........)

Long shot I know, just trying to think of something that mey help you.

Buy without any warranty, most of the engines have of course Wink less than 50tmiles, buy it from a braker in netherlands for round 1.500 - 2.000 Euros, pick up for yourself and look in his eyes..., regards, Uli (Have bought a lot of gearboxes 5L40E and two engines without warranty. You have a better feeling with a good price than if you buy from a gipsy with warranty). L405 SDV8 2017 + Lancia Flavia Coupe 1964 + RRS L494 3.0 SDV6 + C220CDI Convertible 2021

Thanks for all the tips chaps.

The likliest option is that i'll pay around £3k for a new engine, new turbo, fitting and change over off all my existing auxilliaries.

The warranty is with Warranties 2000, sold with the car for £750 for two years. They are scum, not just on this particular thing, refused to fix a broken steering column as it was a 'known weak spot'. The petrol and matches should b saved for their offices...

Sounds like the easiest way of getting back on the road again.

Not exactly wasted money if you plan on keeping the car for a bit.

Do you have any idea of why the turbo actually failed ?
