Steering angle sensor initialisation

Hi guys, I've had the HDC Fault Suspension Lowered message pop up on the dash periodically with the abs warning light and a couple of other warning lights coming on too.

Usually if I turn the car off and restart a few seconds later it seems to have cleared itself ... But recently been happening pretty much within 10 mins of driving Sad

Plugged in iid tool today and first got (on the absread faults) a fault saying "rear right sensor output too low" - reset that and it hasn't recurred but now getting "steering angle sensor initialisation" as a fault.

Did a few searches and have a couple of questions:

1) do I need to have the sensor initialised/caliberated at a dealers?

2) do I need to replace the sensor?

More importantly, how much is this likely to cost?

Was going to have abs sensors checked and replaced at a indie Tomorrow but now wondering if may have to take into the dealers to sort?

Many thanks! African Bush Junkie ... in London!

Height sensors are about £25-30 per corner and need to be calibrated once fitted.

Have you had the tracking checked recently?

Yes it can be caused by faulty alignment

Thanks - I'll try that.

Is the initialisation something that would need to be done by a dealer or is it just the steering full lock on either end that needs to be done? African Bush Junkie ... in London!

If the battery has been disconnected you need to do the steering lock from side to side. Worth a try as the fault could have been caused by a poor battery or connection Thumbs Up

HDC Failure

Update on my HDC Inactive/Suspension Lowered issue.

After a few trips to the local indie and some diagnostic testing (he refused to use my IID Tool) - worked out the the front left ABS Sensor was faulty. SO Changed that and had a few weeks of trouble free motoring ... then Boing! Its Back up.

Now Generally only comes up if I have been on a motorway or A Road and then slow down at a junction or if approaching a roundabout (ie relatively strong braking).

Plugged in the IID Tool and am now getting the ABS Error "Pump Not Actuated".
Still clears itself if I turn car off for a few minutes and restart but the error will come back. AM getting a bit fed up as am losing out onthe comfort driving as in "Suspension Lowered Mode" (and the Suspension Control DIal just loses all lights and can't be adjusted) the ride is much harsher (almost like being on bump stops but not sure its dropping that low).

Any thoughts, suggestions?

PS: The Steering Sensor etc is all gone and hasnt come back. African Bush Junkie ... in London!

firstly i would consider getting a new battery especially now winter is on its way..it seems that when you re-start the range the ecu's get a burst of power resulting in the ecu working properly until the voltage starts to run down and causing errors...
this is just my idea of what 'could' be causing your problem.. ... - .- -.
