2010 Conversion Crash Bar question. Fog position.

In all my research it has been stated that when facelifting from the 2004 front end to the 2006-09 front end you need to either get a new crash bar or cut the fog holes larger on the old one.

But with the 2010 front end, the fogs seem to be much lower on the bumper, so do you still need to get the newer crash bar or mod the old one? I don't see how the fog holes would line up, but then again I have yet to take the front of my car off. Tom

Buy a new crash bar - £140 from a main dealer - it's easier to use the genuine parts especially when it comes to mounting all the stuff to the crash bar. It's not worth messing around when you've already spent £2000 or so on parts.

The foglights don't sit in the crash bar holes on the 2010 conversion anyway Mr. Green

One more thing - I've just had the conversion done by an excellent local body shop - it meant the painting and fixing up was all done under one roof. It was a lot easier to source second hand 2006-on front wings, which fit the bumper mounts correctly, rather than the "cut 'n' shut method of modifying the old wings. Obviously it's a bit more expense but will save time and a lot of swearing.

The body shop is Spraytek in Dinnington near Sheffield, and they are now in the market for conversion work after experimenting with mine! I would certainly recommend them to anyone in the North who doesn't want to travel to London for a commercial conversion.
