Webasto T91 Remote - Problem pairing??

I've bought a T91 remote to control my Webasto FBH in my MY2008 TDV8 (I've actually bought two - see below!)

I bought it because the T90 remote that came with the car was too bulky and I wanted something less obtrusive to fit on my key ring.

I am having some real problems in getting the T91 to pair with the receiver.

I have tried removing the relevant fuse in the front glovebox and following the advice given in the wiki to no avail.

As several forum members have reported success by accessing the webasto unit behind the rear fuse box and disconnecting the power supply, I have tried this method as well - again, no luck.

The first T91 I bought I sent back to the seller for a refund, as I could only assume that there was a fault with the unit. I bought another one from a different source, but I'm having the same issue. Can't believe that two remotes would be faulty, so I am wondering if anyone can suggest another remedy?

Would it help if I put a new battery in the remote?

I managed to pair up a T91 remote by removing the power plug from the receiver and then immediately doing the pairing procedure once the power was reconnected. There doesn't seem to be a fuse to remove that knocks the power out to the receiver on the TDV8's Sad

Are you sure that you are pulling the plug on the right box? Regarding batteries, when you press a button on the T91 does the LED light up? If not then you may want to check the batteries as well

You may have seen this already, but this thread has some information http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic9970.html
Thumbs Up

Simon - thanks for the reply.

Yes, I've detached the power supply from the receiver by removing the rear fuse panel to gain access.

I'm 100% certain it WAS the receiver - it had "Webasto" marked on it, which was a bit of a clue!!

The LED's light up when I press buttons on the T91 - a green LED for the ON button and a red LED for the OFF button. They flash six times in quick succession when I press either of them.

Am going to try Webasto's support line later - I read somewhere that they can be quite helpful.

Thanks, Andy

Just had my reply from Webasto - what a load of Boll Censored ocks

quote:

"The T91 was only supplied for Discovery's and the Range Rover uses the T90 which uses completely different software"

Really helpful.

Another strange problem / quirk has presented itself as well!

If I set the FBH to come on via the timer on the dash, everything is as expected - the light comes on on the relevant button to say that the timer is activated, and when the system fires up the light on the button flashes to let you know that the system is in operation.

However, if I activate the system with the remote (T90) it starts up (I can hear the fans whirring) but no light comes on on the dashboard.

I though the light should come on regardless of how the unit has been activated. I'm wondering if, because the temperature is above 16 degrees, the light hasn't come on because there is no heating aspect, just cooling?

Any comments / input appreciated.

Quick thought here Andy, as you didn't mention in your earlier posts... After you have interrupted and reconnected the power supply to the receiver module are you pressing and holding the off button for at least 5 seconds (within 5 seconds of re-establishing the power to the unit)?

The below is from the T91 manual
1 Insert the battery in the battery compartment of the transmitter.
2 Remove the 1A fuse (black) from the heater's fuse holder (voltage interruption).
3 Wait at least 5 seconds.
4 Replace fuse in heater's fuse holder and press the OFF-button on the transmit-ter for at least 1 second within five seconds.
5 Teaching is completed.

Which can be found at this site: http://www.parkingheater.co.uk/fileadmin/u...ebasto.pdf

I never found the fuse to interrupt the receiver so found that pulling the power multi-plug out was the fastest way to interrupt the voltage and trigger 'learning mode'.

Success!

I repeated the removal of power to the receiver behind the rear fuse box, and this time it has worked.

I now have both the T90 and the T91 operating the system!!

All I need to do now is work out why the dasboard indicator on the top left button to the side of the display screen isn't lighting up...... - see my earlier post.

Thanks for your input Simon.
