TD6 will not fire: Can anyone help? | |
Car was purchased new and has 113,000 kilometres up.
Recently it would not start so I sent it to the dealer on a tow truck. (4th trip on tow truck!)
They said it wanted (and fitted) a chassis mounted fuel pump. This had been replaced 40,000 earlier, but OK I got a new one.
After fitting that they called and said that the car needed a number 4 injector so they removed the manifold and fitted that.
Then thay called to say the car was running fine on the road but had a miss at idle and maybe it needs number 2 injector.
I collected the car and it had a dead cylinder and not a miss at idle.
So I thought I could not continue like this so I removed the inlet manifold only to find that they had re-assembled with all ports restricted by at least 15 percent by sludge.
So I had that cleaned and scraped as much sludge as I could from the cylinder head ports.
Removed all injectors and had then eletrostatically cleaned and tested and all were good and even so I fitted a new one to number 2 as the dealer suggested just to be sure.
Car ran like new for 50 kilometres and thesn back to 5 cylinders.
Number 5 was dead so I fitted a new injector.
Ran like new for 20 kilometres and then the engine just about shook out of the chassis.
After another 25 k's it ran on 6 again.
Next day it would not start so I decided to drain the tank and ensure that fuel was good and tank was clean.
Found that the in-tank fuel pump had obviously been damaged during original asssembly so I fitted an new one and fresh fuel.
Car will not start!
I have a Faultmate Diagnostic and have ensured that all injector codes are updated through this system
