Fact: There are 100 billion galaxies each with hundreds of billions of stars (some thousands of times bigger than our sun which is a Million times bigger than the earth) and trillions of planets out there with a total mass you cannot even imagine! Yet all that mass appeared from a spec hundreds of times smaller than a pin head. My mind just went Big Bang

PS: And where does the Universe end.....

PPS: Our Galaxy the Milky Way (one of 100 Billion) is so big that even at the speed of light, it would take 100,000 years to travel across it.

PPPS: The light we see from the most distant Galaxies is several billion years old thus we are looking back in time by maybe 14 Billion years....

Here is the view 2 billion light-years from Earth (actual photo) - about a thousand times further than our nearest neighboring galaxy, Andromeda. All but two objects in this image are galaxies, each of which contains billions of stars.

Looking out in space is looking back in time. The light from the closest of these galaxies has taken about 6 billion years to reach us - and the furthest more than twice that long. So we are seeing this part of the universe not as it looks now, but as it looked as many as 12 billion years ago. The telescope is a kind of time machine; it lets us see our distant past. These ancient galaxies are not yet fully formed - and their colors have been distorted by the expansion of the universe. A study of images like these may yield clues to the origin of galaxies and of the universe itself.

Joking aside it's absolutely mind boggling stuff...which makes you think that out there somewhere there must be planets that support life of some kind whether that is more advanced than ours or not remains the big question??

Years ago I went to a 'Star Gazing' evening, where telescopes were set up to show us the main planets. Got to say that the talk was mind boggling... I'm sure he said something like " There are more stars in the sky, than grains of sand on the earth" That's a lot of stars .....

And each one of those grains of sand is at least a million (and probably hundreds of millions) of times bigger than the earth.....
