Sat nav disc keeps ejecting

Hi all,

Well just got Rangey back after all my Alternator issues and it appears it was a dodgy earth !!!

Anyway picked her up and the screen on the stereo is blue rather than it's normal look, also seems to be in a more basic format if that makes sense.. add to that the disc keeps ejecting out the CD SAT NAV drive....

Was working fine before alternator problems, have had new battery fitted as well so there has been a interuption in power but cannot see that would cause it...

Help ? Big Cry

Thanks

How very, very odd... I just logged in to post this exact same thing (but not had a new alternator).

Mine is also freezing and rebooting every few minutes showing the LR logo etc.

In addition my sat nav box has been making a lot of clattering and knocking noises.

I decided to just upgrade to a Mk4 unit so bought one online last night. I assume the problem is just a knackered sat nav, hope Im right after spending the cash!

Mine is not even registering on the screen, and a diagnostics could not find it....

My screen does not recognise a sat nav exists...

But it was working perfectly Confused

My Mk4 unit should be here by end of the week, I'll let you know if that cures it.

The blue screen is weird, looks like an old Atari from my childhood Laughing

This may help you...

I've just completely removed my mk3 sat nav unit and now have the blue 'Atari' permanently. This would indicate that the atari screen is the true RR display and the other 'smoother' display is hosted on the actual satnav device and, when connected, overrides the basic car hosted atari screen ( you following this!?)

Anyway, the only reason you would get the blue screen is if your satnav device is losing connection for some reason. Mine is completely borked now (started off as difficulty loading disk, then got noisy, then died).

I'd suggest your options would be check connections and then check the nav itself. It seems to be the only option.

Oh thanks Benjj

Just cannot understand how it's happened whilst in for an alternator... I cannot come up with any logical answer....

They have not touched it, the only interference could be the disconnection of the battery whilst new one installed etc...

Baffling, but thanks for your heads up as this is true to my display etc..

B

It could just be coincidence. That said my satnav went bang two days after disconnecting my battery to try and reset the Censored air suspension when I was on the top of the Pennine Way trying a bit of offroading Embarassed

I suspect that the alternator people didn't leave it long enough for the sat-nav to go to sleep before disconnecting the battery. It's a real no-no with them and destroys them (I don't know why it should, but it does) - so perhaps your first port of call should be the alternator fixing garage with a demand for £300 for a new sat-nav unit (get a MK4 DVD one it's better than the original anyway).

If they claim they didn't know - they damn well should - there is even a sticker on the bonnet slam panel that tells you to wait at least 2 minutes...

Hmm, I didn't know that. Probably why I Censored my sat nav!

Yup - it's rule number one of L322 ownership:

If thy verily shall disconnecteth thy battery before the third minute hath started and while the light of red doth shine unto you from the boot of thy car and upon thy sat-nav thy will be f~cked over by thy dealer or throw thyself upon the seething bay of E.

And thus I did disconnect thine batteriey, jumpeth up and down with apoplectic rage and said unto the heavens, "Why does thy rage unto my rear LEFT compartment of teknologik? Why does thy hate me so Lord?"

And the Lord laughed and replied, "I CREATED THE BIRDS AND THE SEAS, THE DESERTS AND THE EASILY BROKEN BUT ULTIMATELY SATISFYING OFFROAD CONVEYANCE. DOES THOU DARE TO QUESTION ME, THE LORD OF THE SUN, STARS AND MIDLANDS?"

Then I went on eBay and bought a Mk4 from a Romanian.

Verily thy purchased from a wise man of the east, who followed the many little tiny stars of the nav of sat to the land of the hammer wielding, the secret of the tiny little star following device...
