Hello Chaps, been deported from RRSPORT.co.uk for buying a brand new Vogue TDV8

However.............................. it is only 8 days old and broken down and had to be recovered 3 times.

It was Sunday morning and again we were sat waiting for Land Rover Assist (read some dude from the AA just as 4 days ago).

Battery is flat again. Needs jump starting. In 8 days we have had the car only 5 of them and it will be going back tomorrow.

Been in the dealers for 3 days this week having new firmware and software............. supposedley.

Drove 200 miles yesterday not a problem............ got up this morning and the battery is flat...... the vehicle has failed to go night night sleepies again and we are suffering the dreaded battery loss symptoms.

I'm just stunned that a spanking new MY10 is suffering this - just bad - really bad.

It is being taken by Land Rover Assist back to stealers tomorrow morning.

I have searched high and low but there seems litte evidence that MY10's are 'generally' suffering this

Damn and blast  Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.

Sorry to hear of the trouble you are having, Give them the car back and tell them you either want a refund or a New Vehicle ......... ====================================

it IS a hard decison to make because you only just got the brand new car you wanted but I wish I had done this on my RRSport when I got that back in 2005 as it wasn't built to the spec I ordered.

It would have meant waiting a couple of months for an identical one. In the end I backed down....pathetic! Discovery 4 HSE

Coz i have lately heard about the troubles with 2010's and TDV8's i think that is the main reason stopping me from getting one .....

Little update.............

Car goes back tomorrow, we are getting a brand new D4 TDV6 (being taxed today) as shiny new loaner.

FFRR will not be returned until sorted

Turns out we only get the problem if we unlock the car but then do not start it for 90 minutes plus - then the battery is dead. If we unlock it and start it she fires every time.

Now going to investigate high battery drain after immediate unlock but with no start - who knows.

Service reception at dealers superb and making every effort. We shall see what the next few days bring.

It has to be said - put 650 miles on the clock in 10 days and is nothing short of pure delight to drive and cruise about in. Turned out to be a dodgy battery so could be a very easy quick fix! TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

Why WOULD you unlock it and not start the car within 90 minutes?

I had a flat battery on my first day with my TDV8 (2 yrs old though) and I was annoyed. The LR Assistance chap said its easy to kill the battery by unlocking and leaving the systems on, if the key is in the ignition it drains even quicker i.e. when cleaning it etc on your driveway. (I was guilty as charged, had been cleaning it with key inserted ) Discovery 4 HSE

How about wake up Sunday morning, put some screenwash in it, put the kit in for the day's journey and then go and have a coffee and a shower.................. then try to start it.

I have comfort start/entry. Not possible to leave the key in the ignition (there isn't one). Key was in the house at least 5 metres away from the car

And what happens if you go on a picnic (if we ever get any sun). Needs to stand unlocked then

RRUK, did the recovery chap indicate that leaving the car unlocked even without the key in the ignition drains the battery more than if it's locked ? The reason I ask is I normally leave my car unlocked in the garage and im now wondering if i should just lock it ? I had assumed no alarm on would be less of a drain than doors all locked and alarm on ?

My 2010 diesel has exhibited exactly the same faults; if kept locked then all is well but the battery very quickly drains (within 30 mins) if unlocked. I've heard of several other cars doing it too so perhaps a recall is on the way. We also run a 2010 petrol at work and this hasn't been affected at all. Rules are made for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.
