Cookies?

Hey Martin

What are you going to do about the cookie law?

http://www.ico.gov.uk/news/blog/2012/updat...e-law.aspx

Am interested as will have to comply with my company website? It's stupid but carries the possibility of a £500K fine Evil or Very Mad .

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged Supercharged Java Black

Possibly not applicable due to it being a private forum with T&Cs at sign-up. If the cookie information was present there then it's not an issue. To be honest it's a stupid law and I don't think they have thought it through properly. If an individual creates a website and gets hit with a £500k fine, then they are liable for the whole amount, so expect to be bankrupt in most cases. If some nefarious ne'er-do-wells decide to create a "Limited Company by Guarantee" and set that guarantee at £1 then technically they can just dissolve the company and tell the ICO to stuff it without paying more than £1 and whatever assets are in the company (probably not £500k if it's a front).

Covered in the FAQs.

The regulations are ridiculous and have not been thought through at any level except big businesses running web sites.
