To 22 or not to 22, that is the question. Cast your votes.

So I'm toying with the idea of some 22" wheels on the S/C. I go through stages of "do it", "don't do it" on an almost daily basis.

If I were to do it, I'd keep the original wheels, so I'd have both options.

I can't stretch to genuine Overfinch wheels (unless a bargain set come up on the bay) so these would be replicas (ones that are weight checked of course). I can't decide which I like the most though...I'd be really interested in getting the general views of my fellow FFRR'ers, so please cast your votes at the top of the page. Thumbs Up

The bigger the rim, the less cushioning you will get from the road, so unless you are happy to compromise the comfort....stay with the 20's or go to 19's Cool Land Rover Addict

Got 20" stormers on mine and think they look the mutts (made me buy the vehicle) but when stretched to 22 I think the spokes go out of proportion so stay on 20"s
But then those supersports look good????? Mine was a blue one! Smile

The wheels and tyres always look better defined when clean and the tyres satiny shiny.

On that basis, and from a proportional one, I'd stick with the 20's. Si. <This is my name.

I lost a tyre and damaged a rim last year in potholes, and that was on 20's. I hate to think what 22's are like for damage from potholes, kerning and general wear and tear. Also aftermarket you'd want to be really sure that they are up to the job, bearing in mind Land Rover themselves never designed 22 inch wheels to go on the car, or optimised the set up to take such large wheels!

I think the S/C wheels look great! They also work year round. Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

When i was considering what wheels to put on the car the land rover salesman advised that anything over 20" may invalidate the warranty. In addition if taken off-road or driving in snow the traction is very poor because of the low profile tyres - least that was what i was told.

My tuppence worth:
Got my 22's back on, personal choice I suppose, I run 18's during the winter and to be honest, as long as the 22's have the correct tyre size, the ride quality isn't that bad. Granted, I don't drive fast & since the wheels were re-furbed, I am very conscious of kerb sizes. I would recommend having a drive in one fitted with them before taking the plunge. It can be a costly exercise otherwise. Talking to the wheel man & he mentioned that it doesn't matter what brand of 22's you buy, most are "softer" than smaller wheels which means damage is alot easier to do. He has a guy with an RRS who is getting wheels done every other month due to splitting & kerbing (genuine Overfinch) I think he must drive like a mong though! Another point to note is that wheels of this size are very rarely perfectly round! I know it sounds daft, but they do need to be trued, which can make all the difference, find a very good quality wheel man.
Oh & here's mine (dons flame retardent suit!)...

Personally I think 20s are the biggest that you should go. Larger than that and you devalue the look of the car making it more boy racer. For that you need a sport. But each to their own, put what you like on, but if you are looking for appreciation from others then go classy and sporty with 20 inch SC wheels. Tom

Thanks for all of the comments and thoughts all.

@SteveMFr - I wasn't using this to make my decision - I guess I was just interested to get the thoughts of others. However, it's pretty clear that most prefer the 20 inch wheels.

@Flashman - am definitely not looking for appreciation from others - I've always modified / tweaked my cars solely for me and my taste and if others like them too then great, if they don't, they don't.

But as luck would have it seems I'm already rocking the most widely appreciated wheels on my FF anyway... Cool Thumbs Up
