Mazda Eunos - Paint Correction

Got a rotary polisher for my birthday, along with some pads and Meguiars 3 stage paint system so for testing and training before I go anywhere near the FFRR decided to tackle the wifes Mazda, which was badly oxidised all over and with discoloration of the boot and bonnet.

Equipment & Products

Silverline Rotary Polisher
AutoGleams Pads (120mm backing) 1 for each product
Autoglym Clay Kit
Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner Step 1 (Orange Pad)
Meguiars Deep Crystal Car Polish Step 2 (Yellow Pad)
Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnauba Car Wax Step 3 (Black Pad)
A bagload of microfibre cloths

Took a while to get to grips with the polisher, but eventually achieved a smooth action across the surface. All the videos always seem to show working on a horizontal surface, and now I know why!! The meguiars guys make it look so easy! Also was a bit more tricky as I am a lefty, and you can only sensibly use the polisher right handed.

Got best results running Stage 1 at @ 2500 rpm, Stage 2 @ 1800 rpm, and Stage 3 @ 900 rpm, wiping clean at each stage with microfibre. eventually destroyed the Stage 1 pad on the wipers when I got carried away !!

Whole job took about 4 hours, and SWMBO was very please with the result. it has just been rained on this evening, lots of "bead porn" (sorry no photo).

Great work!

Red always fades heavily but looks stunning when brought back to life.

Wheels - they are steel with a bobbly surface (Mazda do bobbly things!). I think they are goign toneed a good scrub down then a few coats of paint - tempted to go white enamel Wink .
