Advice please ...

I've got a 2007 RR TDV8 recently purchased from Sytner select in Bristol ...

It has some rust bubbling on the top half of the tailgate .. just on the curve ...

Sytner are telling me Land Rover warranty won't cover as 'only bubbling' !

Any thoughts? Stephen Gazard

There is one really easy way to find out....

They bloody should cover it.

If the paint and metal is all original I can't see how they won't cover it. Might be time to find another LR dealer

The LR paint warranty is only enforceable if you can prove it has only ever been to a LR Dealer for servicing and body check. Discovery 4 HSE

had my 2006 wheel arch lips sorted last year, so it is possible to successfully make a claim. Get it to the dealers ASAP.

I have been seriously unimpressed with Sytner in Bristol who are a spin off and right next door to Guy Salmon ..... I really would never use them again but they have the vehicle I wanted !

......... so I will take to MJ Fews in Gloucestershire to have looked at .... who I have always found helpful and delivered great service. Stephen Gazard

Hi,

Had exactly the same problem on my TDV8 2007 (rust on the top tailgate), all covered and replaced under warranty.

Go see a stealer and insist (not Sytner or Guy Salmon as I have had a really BAD experience with the Coventry LR)

I also have a couple of tiny blisters on the tailgate, going to have a go at getting them to fix it.

Will try hunters derby, have been good so far with the couple of parts claims i have had. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

just to add to this, I've had a few areas of the body work on my MY2007 TDV8 which started bubbling over the last 7mths, Stratstone Newcastle have sorted with no hesitation.....

I've just bought a MY07 Vogue SE - totally loving it!

I also have some slight bubbling on the tailgate - nothing serious yet, but would like to get it sorted

I have a full LR SH from the supplying main dealer (although they are 100 miles away from me so will have to use someone more local)

Am I likely to have any problems given I've purchased the vehicle second hand?

Seems to depend on the dealer, be as pushy as you can, and get a friendly dealer and you should be ok.

Have a go and let us know how you get on.

Wonder what happens if they were to pick up the rust at a dealer "in warranty" during a service.

I discovered a small blister on the top tailgate, so took it into my local dealer. The guy from the service dept came out and took a brief look, agreed that it "looked" like rust from the inside, so he's told me to take it to their approved bodyshop in Glasgow for "further investigation". I'm expecting to have to fight for it to be repaired under warranty!  Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

The side strips on my tailgate are showing signs of corrosion and bubbling, mentioned it to the dealer on Tuesday when the car went in with alarm problems so will report the outcome.

Both strips on side of glass replaced, dealer had them in stock so suggests a common problem.
