remote key fob HELP!

Hi all

if you see my other topic i have asked about something similar to this but this is the next development!

New car battery is now on working fine no issues have invested in a solar trickle charger for good measure though just incase car now starting no issues.

The only issue i now have is since the original battery went flat and has now been changed the remote locking/unlocking/tailgate release doesnt work. The light flashes when you press the buttons but nothing. the doors have to be unlocked/locked by key and the indicators flash when you do this. i have changed the battery in the remote and guess what its still the same the little red light on the key fob flashes but no action from any of the 3 buttons

any ideas at all chaps?

thanks in advance

Sounds like your key needs reprogramming. Follow these instructions ......it worked for me after a couple of goes!

Programming a new Key

Replacing a missing master key is quite expensive from Land Rover, try not to get sucked into the extra cost of "Dealer coding" You can do this yourself in 2 minutes by following the simple process below.

1) Get in and close all doors. Turn ignition on and off quickly and remove the key (all within about 5 seconds).

2) Within 30 seconds of turning the ignition off, while holding down the "unlock" button, press the "lock" button three times. Release the "unlock" button. (You may or may not get the confirmation from the door locks.) Holding the key at your head level provides best results as the key sensor is in the side window pillar.

3) Repeat for each key you want to initialize within 30 seconds after the last one you initialized (if you have more).

4) Right after doing the last key, quickly put the key back in the ignition and turn it on/off again to finalize.

ok thanks for this when you say "after a couple of times" i take it you did it once it didnt work and you had to try the process again then it worked?

is it normal for a key to need re programming after a flat battery or are their particular events that mean a key would need to be reprogrammed ?

Just wasn't quick enough the first go. The only reason I did this is because my spare key did as yours does when I first got the car. ie everthing worked except the central locking. Here's the link I got it from:

Hi guys,

Just tried to sync my new spare key using the method below.

However, when I put the key into the ignition it won't even turn for me to move on to the next steps Sad

Any ideas/suggestions?

Is it possible the new spare key hasn't been cut correctly? I notice there whereas the old key has a Y Shape notch at the end i.e. two diagonal cuts at the tip of the key where the cut channel starts, the new key only has one diagonal cut.

Possibly the key has never been programmed with your rover I just got a brandnew key from LR and thought I was being smart trying to program it myself but it wont turn in the ignition (it works the locks) there must be something with it having a new transponder F**K IT you only live once

your new key is missing the transponder or it has not been programmed, that's why you cant turn the key as it does not see the transponder chip... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

No offence but I'm pretty sure that's what I just said LR wouldn't have sold me a key with no transponder F**K IT you only live once

i think you will find land rover will not sell a uncoded key, if the key was brought for your vin then ether it was not programmed correctley or it has been programmed with the wrong code, has your ignition been changed.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
