Hi all,

I've seen complaints about lack of front seat leg room when the rear seats are folded down, but I think they were about the Sport. Does the TDV8 suffer from this?

Unfortunately it's a deal-breaker for me as I play the double bass.

Could you not play the double bass in the back seat then?

Full or 3/4 ?

Shouldn't be a problem:

1. Just fold down the single seat and slot it in on it's side
2. Remove rear head rest/s and don't "completely" put the back seats down (e.g. just lower the back rests down)

Best advice is to take double bass to an LR showroom and try it out  .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

I hope they are better than the Ford garage, I jumped into one of their people carriers and started measuring the back with the seats up/down and in various positions - even took my own tape measure.

Reassuring, thanks all.

I like to carry the bass lying flat on its back (safer that way), and I was alarmed by the comments about the Sport.

The simplest solution for me would be just to drop the back seats and slide the bass neck in between the front seats, no messing with headrests etc. It needs to be hassle-free or I won't go there.

Life is tough enough being, as Dorothy Sayers described bass players, 'permanently encumbered with luggage.'

You could always take up the violin.

My thoughts several times a day.

My 2003 Vogue has a ski hatch, and there is about 7 foot length without moving any seats if you use that.

Not sure about the length, sorry, or width of your instru....sorry errrrr ........size of your bass........

Seriously, depends of the length of the neck etc, may work...........

should be alright, take a double bass to the MD and see if it fits in their display model, as has been suggested.

i would think It should go with just the back of one side of the 60/40 split just folded forwards and not rolled fully over There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Interesting replies I read the OP to be asking if when you fold the rear seats does it affect the position of the front seats. By this I read can you still move the seat right back on its runners.
I don't know about late model L322's but on my 2003 TD6 it makes no difference and I am 6ft5 tall, 6ft6 if I feel like it.

Hi & welcome, I had 4 wheels with tyres in the back off my RR I am 6ft 1 I had to move the front seat forward to get them down as the head rest hit the top off the front seats then once flat the from seat went back to my desired position lads off room.

You should only have to drop one side in any case so it's not really an issue.

Thanks for all the replies; most reassuring.

Wish i could take advantage of the 'for sales' here, but Ireland is the pits for motoring. Huge import duty on used vehicles (about 30% of book value) and very limited second hand market in FFRRs. No RRs apart from evoque in stock at any dealer within 100 miles either, so no chance to try out.

So thanks even more for the advice; if I buy, I'll be doing it with little opportunity to test.
