Hi,
has anyone ever created a sticky with a buyers guide to FFRRs?
I am new to looking for one and am overwhelmed by the lack of knowledge I have. There seems to be so many bad ones out there that if we had a quickie guide as to what to look for it would e very handy.

Obviously there is a lot of knowledge on here, but I don't want to keep posting what I consider dumb questions.

Best advice is to see the car, read the owners manual and check that all the "electrical" things, ICE things, transmission, air suspension things work as they should. Condition over service history (IMHO). Towbar fitted, no bling (!), no DIY upgrades that mess with original functionality of car. Highest spec you can find with all the added extras you think you might need (as this costs a bomb to fit later)

Vogue spec has sunroof.

I know - and I have been looking (honest) - half the problem I find is knowing what to search for - and what things are called and slang etc. e.g. the 3 amigos from D2 land..

i will keep plugging away and asking my questions if I can't find suitable answers in the searches.

buy one and own it and you will learn all you need to know. you've said it yourself there is too much to try and absorb!

I thikn if it's not new and ranging in the 80k+ miles like you'd mentioned in a few threads Rich it#'s nigh on impossible to give that type of guide.

Simple things are pre-requisites for me like:

Non-recorded on insurance register vehicles
As many original panels as possible.
FSH
All recalls carried out
Good HPI report
Owned at least 6 months if not 12.
Long MOT and Tax.
Best spec / colour selling combo
Gearbox I "need"
How much will I need to spend once bought from whats already known.
General overall feeling of the seller
Is the vehicle in a general above average condition for it's age.
Nice number of owners
Call a service garage or two and see if they know the car and it's PO's

I think the rest is all subject to luck, I mean my car seems fine but how do I know my gearbox won't decide to head to the moon once you drive it home...I don't and thats just the luck of the draw buying high mileage used vehicles. all smug in my new plug!

However close you check the first time you hand wash it you will find more stone chips, notice a new panel and little dings, also maybe how the side steps don't quite sit the same because possibly one has been knocked and the mud flaps don't quite fit the same left and right and finally there is s dent in the roof above the windscreen.

It can be the little things that mount up, wheels, tyres, grills, carpet, mats (esp. boot), wiper blades, battery, leather restorer for seats, IIDTool for diagnostics

I have bought all of the above must've added over £1k to the purchase price. Mines a vogues, I value the tow bar which is an option, i don't miss RSE as I don't have young kids now. Geoff

Am I right in thinking RSE stands for rear seat entertainment ?

(If it was in an Autobiography should it also be preceeded by a capital 'A')

Indeed it does, I think it might be standard on an Autobiography along with the cooled seats so that would be a cool RSE - nice  Geoff
