Dead VentureCam fixed

Just posted this on Aus L322 site, and thought it might be relevant here.
I've searched without finding an existing thread to tag into.
My MY05 Vogue came with a dead venturecam, no lights, not working.

I cracked it open and found the rechargeable batteries were kaput.
I was able to source some new batteries and solder them up in the same sequence, bingo, Venturecam - working and charging.

Just wanting to encourage others to do the same if they're interested in getting theirs working. Better than buying a new one from LR for A$750..... L322 4.4 Vogue MY03 - Her name is Bulletproof .... you already know she's not Smile

Yeah theres a melted rubber seal around the perimetre which you have to slice/crack, and I butchered mine up a bit.

After that theres a clip at the centre back and then at 10am and 2pm - so three in total.

Gently Gently prising open the clips as theres wiring in there close to the edge that you dont want to slice them..... L322 4.4 Vogue MY03 - Her name is Bulletproof .... you already know she's not Smile

there is a post about this somewhere, it started with the same problem, cam not charging. i came across this quite awhile ago when a friend bought a 2006 and the cam was dead, i managed to jump start the battery with out opening it, some times the battery's get so low that one of them can change its polarity. i repaired his this way and they it went on working even after he sold the car, the same with my two and i have not had any probs, i all so repaired a pair for a member on this forum, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

well i've just had a go at repairing a dead cam. i opened it up and removed the battery pack. went to tesco and bought some AAA rechargable batteries. the cam uses six of said batteries, they are maybe not quite the same but you got to try these things.

i then de-soldered all the wires from the battery pack, mirrored the way they were linked by soldering some copper wire accross the terminals as required to link the six batteries and put it back together. forgot to say i used sellotape to hold all the batteries together in a pack, didn't have any heat shrink wide enough.

hey presto she has fired up... Laughing

haven't actually paired it with the car yet as i have sealed around the case with RTV gasket stuff in a sexy shade of black.. Razz when that has dried off a bit i will give it a try out in the cradle and see if it pairs ok with the car.

if it works deffo a cheap fix.. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE
