Had my TDV8 for a week... couple of questions

Had a great week using the new TDV8 to get to work and back.... such an improvement over the Touareg

couple of questions that I've searched and can't seem to find answers..

First is a minor thing. When filling up the pump constantly clicks off unless you hold it at very low flow. Have fueled up a few times and same each time. Is there a cure or a specific way to hold your face whilst doing this Confused

Also the car is currently on Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme M&S tyres. I think it went over to Switzerland each year looking at the service history. Is it worth hunting out a set of second hand RR alloys and putting it on normal road tyres and keeping the M&S tyres for winter? Will it make a big difference to the road noise/handling etc?

thanks for any advice Smile Lloyd Barnes

brilliant thanks... I searched for filling up not refueling.. I don't think I've quite got the hang of the search engine on here yet.

I shall go away and search for the info on tyres again Embarassed Laughing Lloyd Barnes

I have a set of Vreds on wheels that I keep for winter and another set of wheels with regular tyres for Easter to December Thumbs Up

Someone once reported that the Vreds wear pretty well even in the summer - but I've had plenty of other people say that winter tyres wear very quickly in the heat.

My understanding is that about 7 degrees celcius is the cut over point - below that winter tyres out perform but significantly above that they are worse - I've never left them on long enough to find out.

I bought a set of brand new wheels & tyres from Dan @ Duckworths for less than the cost as the tyres !

I put the tyres on my existing wheels & my Vreds on these for winter Very Happy

Me too. Winter tyres on their own rims, put on early November, take off end of March / early April. If you have teh space to store them it's the best solution I think. Graham

i'm glad i'm not the only one who has problems filling the FFRR up. admitidly when i first got it the little yellow flap had been tripped for some reason which didn't help things in the slightest, but it is such a pain in the bum trying to fill the old girl up, i will try the pump upside down thing. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Have no problem at all, bar the crap that diesel fillers for some reason seem covered in diesel! Never had this with petrol. Land Rover Addict

Tried the upside down pump thing yesterday. Works a treat.

I'll have a look for some second hand allys and summer Tyres then. Seems to handle fine on the Wintracs but there is a little tyre hum so was hoping to reduce that for the best ride quality.

Kath is off to town in a couple of hours in the range. Her first drive. Little bit nervous, bless her!! Lol she's used to a teeny 2 seater but no good for shopping apparently! Lloyd Barnes

Personally, I've found that if you put the nozzle in reasonably deep, then pull it backwards so that the hook catches on the rim of the filler, it worls perfect. A lot of nozzles seem to have a mark around the tube that lines up with where it sits on the rim of the filler. V8 or else ...

really is a shame that the HGV filler nozzles wont go into the FF, they do on my tranny at my local BP and it cuts filling time by about three quarters. Immagine how fast the 10p's rattle up on a normal pump and thats how fast the £1's go in on the HGV pump. takes ages to fill it full. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Just missed my bargain wheels Lloyd.

The filler thing can be annoying on other LR vehicles as well but the tilting trick is a good one Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
