United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Tonga Green

The AJV8 is a tried and tested engine, going back to 1997.

To claim the M62 is superior in any way is just pure folly. The AJv8 in SC or normally aspirated form does not suffer any of the issues that the M62 suffers - the main ones being:
Poorly designed PCV system.
Poorly designed/implemented Electronic Thermostat.
Plastic cooling system components that are incompatible with BMW long life coolant so they turn brittle and crack.
VANOS Rattle & other top end malfunctions.

That being said, the M62 is a great engine, just in the RR it's not been implemented brilliantly. Coupled to the 6 speed box its power delivery would have been much smoother. It could also have done with some improved sound proofing as the noise even at low throttle was far too intrusive.

The Jag engine sits nicely in the RR, giving smooth power at every speed in every gear and no obtrusive screaming - just the slight hint of SC whine. It goes back to the Rover V8 days, where the engine suits the car better.

The AJv8 is a supremely strong engine, coming in variants from 3.5l to 5l.

The 5L version is currently in the new Range Rovers and the rest of the Jag range although the RR has been tweaked for the highest power @510.

The max power capacity for the 5hp24 gearbox is about 450, audi have it mated to a W12 engine in the A8 which produces 440 - so you wouldn't want to go any higher than that.

I stand by my original comment - Save your money, but a factory SC and get all the other bells and whistles that go with it, rather than dicking about trying to SC an M62.

Well got the Towbar complete assembly on today, and got all the interior changed to Piano Black throughout, thats the heater controls and gearbox, cup holder and the rear vents switch cover.

that leaves the paddle shift conversion to do next week as Land Rover have got faulty stock in the paddle as the moment and all xx34 part numbers are left hand instead of right hand ones!!!

can only happen in Britian with our QA systems in Place!!!!!!!!! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

still hope to have this week before business trip to Houston.

got the sidebar on as well, these I will do a write up on, as they were a breeze to fit, although the quality of the bracket painting ws poor (resolved by good etch primer and Black tough top coat) the fitting and bars are of very high standard. Current vehicles
