Drove back from the NW coast of Scotland yesterday, had a few issues up there and was lucky to get back home.
AA trailered the car away to the Dealers this morning.

Then, there was the fact that none of the dash dials worked, no speedo, no rev counter, no fuel gauge, no miles being recorded on the Odometer, no indicators, no sat nav, no stereo, no power steering.
The cause?
No, not the battery.
Duff alternator. 4hrs labour to remove and refit.
Luckily I remembered you can view "Vehicle Signals" in the diagnostic screens and we watched as the battery voltage ranged from 11.5V to 16V. When it spiked at 16V all manner of things went off, got a thud from the transmission as it decided to lock in 5th gear, which was fine on a motorway but as soon we you needed to stop and restart, you can't pull away in 5th, not even with 800nM of torque!
It made for an interesting 10 hours drive. Discovery 4 HSE
