The missus and I are on the hunt for a new house in Greenwich. Our relationship manager mentioned that HSBC use a panel of solicitors (mainly Countrywide) to represent them. Basically you can either use their service or pay a charge of £192 to use your own solicitor. I have read some differing opinions of the experience of using your own solicitor with HSBC (usually Countrywide delaying exchange and settlement). Has anyone had experience of this new process? Paul

Sorry can't help you with any recommendation ukrangie but I would always advise people to take indepedant advice especially when it comes to property transactions. It gives you the comfort that there is no conflict and if it does go wrong for whatever reason then you will have the protection against any legal negligence

I remortgaged with a HSBC mortgage last year. i think it was a company called your conveyance they used at the time, I didn't fing them helpful and not the quickest, but no fundamemetal problems.
