Following my original post below my new car also is missing the finisher strip mentioned below. Please use the poll to say what you have got.

When I took that TDV8 out for a drive from the dealer last week I noticed that the rear tailgate glass looked like it was missing a finisher strip at the base of the glass, you can see it here on my car.

Does yours have it? Do newer ones no longer have it or is this something else that was not right about that particular car?

Mine has it.

For what i've seen in 2 2010 cars in the dealership, 1 SC and 1 TDV8, they no longer have that strip.

And it's not a bad idea... My car is usually parked on an uphill road on the left side. Meaning I have the car parked always a bit tilted to the left. Right now that little strip is almost touching the left D pillar of the car. When I open and close the tailgate, the vibrations make it move slowly slowly. Someday the tailgate won't close. And that's not an easy fix. The easy way to do it (at least thats what the dealer does) is give it some smacks in the opposite direction. Usually it cures the problem for a few months.

The first pic may be a preproduction car.

I'm pretty sure that the 05 plate that was next to it had the same issue. Weird. Discovery 4 HSE

The finisher strip is present at all the windows, I think it looks weird if it's missing in the back, surely it's just a measure for more cost reducing... Like the missing Land Rover oval on the tailgate...

My 2007 TDV8 Vogue has it.

My 2008 North American HSE does not have it.

Those 2010's above are different in more ways than one. Look at the rear bumper - the non painted underbumper is square off on one and rounded on the other? (or is that just angles)
