Lolo, if your replacing the rear cables/straps (i take it you mean the opening straps) why not look at putting the updated one on and the gas shocker to stop the boot from clanking down...

Sounds good, I presume the updated ones fit an 06 model? Depending on price tho. Come to think bout it, I like the way the lower tailgate opens fast. I also have to climb up to reach the back of the boot, I wouldn't want to damage the gas strut especially if expensive..

On the recent hired FFRR i had while mine was in getting fixed that had the small gas strut i never noticed at first as i thought the tailgate was just stiff …..

Lolo, my 06 has one fitted and it makes no difference to the lower tailgate opening, only damps the last quarter of the fall so it does not "bang" when it hits the bottom (no puns required guys!!!) It certainly adds a little refinement to the rather crude way the non damped ones open... If in doubt, go to your local dealer and open a boot in the showroom... Craig |
