Just used a Clay bar.first time....

Well, having read most of the posts in the "Have you used PTFE polish" thread, I decided to purchase a waffle weave drying towel, which I am very pleased with. Much better than a leather, and having seen a demo of one in around 1998, I have been to Halfrauds and purchased a Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay kit, which I hoped would remove all the tree sap and stuff from my paint.

The finish of the paint has annoyed me since I bought the car last November.

I have to say, having spent about 15 odd hours on it in total over the weekend, I'm well amazed with the results.

I have never felt a paint finish like it.

For the top coat of wax, I decided to use Autoglym's polish, for darker colours. Think it has a blacky/blue label on it.

Hmmm, I don't think you've quite mastered the technique though. Tell you what, I'll PM you my address so you can come and practice on my car. Mr. Green

Top job fella. Thumbs Up

Looking good fella Smile

Did you find the lower half of your doors and tailgate felt bad before claying and had the best benefit from it when they were super smooth after?? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Ordinarily, I'd say yes, the lower part of the front doors and tailgate were worse than the rest of the sides, but due to the fact the 1st owner seemed to have parked it under a tree for 8 years, the roof and the bonnet were the panels which saw the most improvement.

Was excellent, even removing the tree sap from the glass.

It's not particularly hard to do, just time consuming..........

The last time I spent as much time and effort on one of my cars was this ;

Just after the full Zymol treatment. Was a show car and been in a few car mags........

I just need to keep the polish topped up on the Rangie, and it shouldn't need claying again. Hopefully. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Top work! Thumbs Up

In my experience, I find the roof by far the dirtiest area. It's normally the least cared for, especially on this type of car as its the hardest panel to get to.

Now you've got to keep it that way. Laughing Si. <This is my name.

Nice job, if you get a chance next weekend give the car a coat of Autoglym EGP to protect the freshly polished paint.

(just re-read your post and I think the black label is AG EGP)

I used this after the claying..........Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine...

Not sure whether it replaces Extra Gloss Protection, but as I still have some EGP left from a year or so ago, I could try it on a panel and see.......

Yes - need more effort with the tyre shine....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

You need to put some wax on the top to protect the polished paintwork.

I use collinite 476 wax, it lasts a really long time Thumbs Up

A coat of wax or EGP will keep it looking its best for longer.

It was the Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine that I used on my FF the first few times, and to good effect.

It was developed for dark colours and made a noticeable difference to my black V8 Discovery compared to normal Autoglym.

I then used Zymol on my FF and have been very impressed with that.

A new tub of Autoglym High Definition Wax awaits and is the next stage. Si. <This is my name.
