Redlights

Hello
My 2003 TD6 has a redlight under the interior mirror which is to do with the alarm. But it also has one central on top of the dash towards the screen. What is this for?

Thanks

The "red light" on the dash is the sun sensor, it tells the AC ECU that the sun is out so it can adjust its settings for the added amount of heat coming in. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Yep and it is harder to find out why something is not working properly because of that as well than in the old days with all the sensors and functionality in the software (of which I don't think many people know how it works).

I used to do a lot of fault finding on big hydraulic offshore cranes during the initial years of development and without a thorough understanding of the software, how the logic works exactly, limiting conditions etc. you can not find out what is wrong.

What I miss is that understanding of how the functionality of the car software works due to lack of information and that makes it very hard to find out what is wrong most of the time. I also believe that a lot of the mechanics don't have that information and are therefore just component changers that just try till they find what works, and you can't really blame them sometimes...... MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
