MOT Advisories

So my car passed OK, but the advisories said slight play in the rear bushes - metal not poly? means nothing to me Whistle
How bad before that becomes a fail?
The garage (K-Motors) mentions that it does this rear bush replacement on it's website so I am naturally cautious , but I appreciate any views.
Also I guess there's no point in ringing Warranty Direct as it didn't fail and it's probably wear and tear and I probably have a big excess and I don't know why I took out the Censored extended warranty anyway.
Actually , yes I do, it was reading on here how unreliable FFRR are - I haven't really had any problems so whatever the policy cost I could have spent the money on pimping my ride, as they say Very Happy

Although I have mentioned K-Motors I don't want to start a discussion on the merits of garages I've lived long enough to know that although there might be good ones and bad ones more often than not luck plays a part, I remember when the clock didn't keep good time on my Mercedes - MB solution, replace the whole dash £000's. In this case they were just changing the oil and doing an MOT - rocket science it ain't - they seemed fine to me although they couldn't get the towbar armature out of the receiver even with a sledgehammer Shocked Geoff

Depending on which rear bushes they are? It could mean killing your rear tyres... My last customers one went into Stratstones as they have the kit to do it easily... They changed 3 rear bushes (as protyre could not get enough adjustment to track the rear) and cost me trade £400+

If you put a lever bar in the rear wishbone, you could move it 1/2 an inch! No adverse knocking just cutting tyres...

Cheaper than tyres though i guess...

You need to press out the old bushes and pull in the new ones. Easy enough if you know what you're doing otherwise best left to the experts. Once completed I recommend having the 4 wheel tracking done

As 47p2 said.

Just had my upper and lower rear "rose bushes" changed (Indipendent Land Rover garage) and they had a lot of bother, and they know what they are doing.

Rear tracking way out now.

How much did it cost Bob?

Just curious as the actual bushes are not expensive but they are a bit of a Censored to change

They were a Censored to change as I was told. Job should have taken about 3hrs but it ended up double that.

Thay had to use a lot of heat to get the bushes out.

I think it all came in at £460 including the extra labour.

I use Cheviot 4x4 on Tyne Tunnel Trading Est, in North Shields. These are "Independent Land Rover Specialist".

The lads that run the place are ex Land Rover Technicians Im lead to belive. They always give a fair price Thumbs Up
