thanks for the response stan, i got in touch with craig however he's done loads of conversions but all diesels!

Why don't you put a K&N filter in the standard housing ?? First of all you have a much larger surface area and the air going in is much more laminar which aids the amount going in. The more turbulent the flow is (and cone filters do that) the less air you get in.

I would suggest the reason would be that following the conversion the standard airbox does not fit, hence the cone version |

Later headlamps are much deeper and sit where the original airbox is situated on a normally aspirated V8 hence the need for a cone filter...

But not on an SC model... as airbox is in another place...
