Intense Weekend Courses

I'm looking to get a CCNA to move onto another job where it is a pre-requisite and wondering if these intense weekend course type affairs are actually any good.

I've got some network experience as i work in a NOC currently, mainly GUI based but some CLI.

Its £600 which is a fair old chunk of cash but worth it if it allows me to move onto another job in the same company before my current one comes to an end.

Does anyone have any experience of these or better ways to get the qualification? I have 2 months which im hoping is enough time to get the qualification Smile

Failing that, anybody got any jobs going, even contract ones Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Hi KP

It's pretty easy to be honest I did one a few years ago in a fortnight of self study after work. This has now lapsed and I was tempted to do it again but now I'm spending more time in meetings and less time playing with kit Sad . The CLI stuff is quite logical and given you will likely already have a decent handle on binary for subnetting and no doubt VLAN/Spanning tree etc. you should knock it out in a week. Some of the compound commands are a bit tiresome but because they are 'clunky' they tend to stick in your head more.

It was about 2 years since I touched anything teal coloured and I was still able to remember enough to build and configure a 2821 for S2S and C2S VPNs in half an hour

Sure you'll be fine- One point is that the exams are not necessarily about learning the technologies or standards verbatim but more how Cisco implement them.

Good luck!

Thumbs Up

Unfortunately Craig it is, and it gets even worse in some meetings when a new manager comes on board with all the latest buzz words/terms...

buzz word bingo is great and better odds than a tombola Very Happy

If i could get my own company to take off in time i would do but the business around here is already saturated in most places Sad
I'll probably end up sticking a load of the PC stock i have on ebay slowly to help build up funds before the big day and use to help ride out the storm.

Worst case scenario is the FFRR and 'van get sold to free up some cash to take a much lower paid job which there are plenty of around here, just to keep the bills paid Sad

Life always throws curve balls i guess! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
