Went out for a drive the other day playing in the snow.
AT2 tyres are working faultlessly in the snow.

Suprised there was no ice on these little fords near Harpenden, Herts - I guess it is a little fast flowing.

As you can see I took extra snow in the expedition rack just incase we ran out!

Where did you get the rack from?

I bought the rack via ebay.
It turned out however to belong to Ken - a forum member on here.

It's proved to be a really useful bit of kit. I decided not to bolt the rear ladder through the bootlid skin.
But after much trial and error I have now worked out a non damaging way of climbing on the roof. "If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through."

What do you do to get on the roof? I've got the rack as well - no ladder, though and I'm not excited about making no-return-mods to my tailgate either. Thought about fabricating a swing-down ladder or the like (haven't thought very far yet, though)...

(wife thinks I'm nuts - prob right, too)

My method is:

1. Open rear side door fully
2. Flip up seat fully so that rear bottom edge of seat is upermost
3. one foot on floor then step up onto back edge of folded seat
(the point you now have one foot on is normally hidden when seat is down so if it gets a bit dirty it's not anywhere near the leather)
4. By this point my roof is now below waist height (i'm 5'10") which is more than enough to reach right over or just pop your knee up on the side rail and lift yourself up onto the roof.

I find as long as you are careful this method stops boots and zips going anywhere near paintwork.

coming down is just as easy - unless you have loaded the rack with bikes right to the edge! (see pic).
