Just had some idiot in a Ford Ranger driving like an a***e down a narrow lane and speaking on his mobile phone smash my drivers door mirror although I had stopped to let him past I just didn't get time to see his number plate. Phoned Stratsones in Cupar and if they can get away with just the glass it will cost £146 +Vat ....bet they have to replace the whole frigging unit!!! I think I will just pay this rather than claim off the insurance ( renewal due in April)

Sorry to hear that Jim …. as you say you get some F K wits on the road ...

Still seething about it ...After it happened jumped out of the car to pick up the plastic mirror cowling which as far as I could see was badly scuffed but not broken and I think the guts of the mirror are still working ok but won't really know until I take it over to Cupar tomorrow. The only consolation is that 50 yards further down the road was the F s wing mirror competely ripped off....picked it up and throw it as far as I could into the field!!!.... As you said Stan I think a £20 camera makes a lot of sense!!!

^ Craig....Unfortunately my mirror is not only heated but has auto dim and lane assist incorporated in the glass

what a sod. Have had it happen to me before & now whenever I get in a tight spot, my immediate reaction is hit the mirror button to fold em in.

I understand the anger, but try to think positive - at least it was just the mirror & not the whole door side.

^ Very true...got the new glass fitted this afternoon,fortunately it was just the glass and nothing more. All fairness to Stratstones Cupar they gave me a discount and free fitting

Ah well not too bad then Jim , a bit of a result anyhow ...
