FFRR Recovery

Hi all

Is it correct to put a FFRR onto a trailer to take it to a garage for repair rather than towing by thw front wheels for example?

I assume towing would damage the drive system?

Thanks

Carl

Thanks gents. I'm at work now but have to call in a home recovery later and didn't want then to send a normal breakdown van.

Hi Carl

Couldn't find it in Topix, but I am sure there is something about recovering them on a trailer or low loader. I think they can be towed but only with all four wheels on the ground and only up to a certain speed and distance and even then I think there is a risk of transmission damage. Definitely a no-no to being towed on a recovery dolly with 2 wheels on the ground.

Thumbs Up

When my darling TD6 gearbox died last summer, and Mr AA came out to recover me, they covered my rear plate while it was on the recovery truck's bed, I asked why and he said it was an agreement they had with 'prestige' car owners? I can only assume to prevent embarressment of having an expensive car and the neighbours seeing it be recovered?

Well they must have alot of number plate covers for FF's then! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

We often have them turn up on enclosed recovery trucks (recovery trucks with an electric cocoon type cover), when i asked a driver last week he said "enclosed trucks are for prestige vehicles and forensic transport"
So i guess its alright if you commit crime in your FF and have it seized... At least you get seized in style! Laughing
