First Rangie :
1972 "Suffix A" car
Lincoln green
No power steering
Plastic seats & flooring
Lollipop mirrors
V8 & 4 speed manual
Superb car to drive - very chuckable
Sold it two years ago . . . . . wish I hadn't Big Cry

You're not an enthusiast until you've experienced one of these early cars - definitely not for the bling boys ! Laughing

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I do seriously miss having an RRC ... just something about it. The wife hated the offroader, however the big RR was a P38 which seemed to fail just when we needed it ... each time, the RRC stepped in and did the job.

I keep saying to the wife that there is still a play-car in me ... one last one.

( dont read further if you think RR's should be stock form )

What I have in mind at the moment is a road going RRC:

RRC - 4 door.
V8 + LPG + side exit exhausts
Stiff suspension / dampers ( maybe a -1" drop )
20" BMW X5 alloys - staggered
Widened arches for the wheels

I had also thought about a fast-back RR. looking back at the old photos, I found these 2 sketches I did years ago ... man .... i forgot about those ... must be from about 2002 timeframe,

 V8 or else ...

I loved this RR and to this day regret parting with her:

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

I had a beautiful black 1989 V8 automatic. Lovely car, not very reliable (hurtling down some country lane in the dark and all the lights failing was my most memorable memory Smile) but what a joy to drive. Sorry that I had to sell her. So that is why I enjoy my current L322 even more (even without the A/C working at the moment Smile). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I think my signature says it all. Still something about a Classic, even if it feels small these days. Would have one on the drive if there was room.

United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Oslo Blue

I brought my first RRC when I was 21 it was a 93L 3.9 which I had converted to LPG it was my pride and joy and it was immaculate. I sold it and then got a 4.6HSE which is possibly the worst car I ever owned.
The thing is 5 years later I brought my old rangie back, it only had 10k miles more on it and still had all my old radio stations saved on the pre-set's, but the thing is it just wasn't as good as I remember, bit like dating an old girlfriend, you should never go back however much fun you think its going to be!

I sold it to a bloke in London not long after, about 6 years ago and the other week I saw it for sale at the side of the road near where I live, but god did it look rough (bit like some of my ex girlfriend's now)

I had a 3.9 V8 1992 Vogue from 2004 to 2007, at the same time as a BMWM5, so was ideal really.

11mpg in traffic, and 18mpg if you drove it steady on a run.

Never managed to get it stuck, though it did have mud tyres on it........

I too didn't have a P38. I had a Discovery Td5 ES after, and swapped that for the L322.

Cheers,

Was up near Driffield, on the land that the Army use to train their folks to drive tanks and military vehicles.

I never managed to get all the dirt out the engine bay........!!

I had a K reg classic 3.9v8 which I used for off roading. I bought it when it was totally immaculate, then destroyed it off road!

Anyone know how many MPG ill get out of my 4.2sc off road? I'm going on a land rover experience day at the weekend.....nothing extreme, just some muddy tracks and scenery. Should be fun!

Had an early 70s 2-door,(4 doors not made then), purchased from Sir Edmund Hillary..........and I reckon he used it to drive up Mt. Everest!! Loved it, though.

Wow Simes, you had one of the first ever LRs from 1658! Must have been Cromwell's very own. LOL. Testament that they go on and on, and on with the right maintenance. Did you have a full service history? Tom
