Range Rover Exhilaration By Appointment

Tomorrow I am attending a day organised by Landrover that I was invited to in which I get to test drive to the MAX Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports on a runway test track. Whistle

This is not aimed at being an off road event but an on road handling and all out performance test such as maximum straight line speed, acceleration, corning and braking. There will be some light off road driving too and lunch is included.

I'll try and get some good pictures and let you know how it goes. Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE

Well, what a fantastic day. This is how all LandRover hospitality should be. Here's the agenda of proceedings:

Arrive, registration, tea, coffee, biscuits, read latest car magazines and newspapers
    3 course lunch - marvellous
Quick talk on what we're about to do
Split into groups of 4 vehicles (2x FFRR and 2XRRS) all TDV8, all top spec
Only me and the wife in a car with the instructor
High speed banked circuit and general fast driving, swapping drivers and cars - was awesome experience
High speed emergency braking using Park brake at 50mph and foot brake at 70mph - realy impressive. Again, everyone gets a go in each type of car
Half wet and dry emergency braking
    Slow speed slalom work
    High speed Slalom work
High speed sharp turn and braking
    Formation driving
Off road course with LandRover off road instructors
Wrap up, feedback and free gifts

Got a few pictures, despite asking the wife to take some of me driving there seems to be stationary shots only!

If you can still get on one of these do it.

Lovely marquee inside and out, our setting for the day.

This line of Range Rovers just kept going, must have been 50 cars there in total

Italy

Hair band or no hair band… I am envious.
Being Danish I know the Danish Land Rover dealership has days like this and also a strong community where people take their private cars to a quarry or off road in groups.
I have heard that this is the case in the UK as well. This Land Rover arrangement looks very impressive anyway.

Now, I live in Italy and have asked the local dealer if they arrange days like this or if he would know about any “club” going off road in their Ranges. He did not have a clue and he was not very helpful.
I do have nice mountains in my local area and taking my new Range up there is on the top of my list, but it would just be nicer together with other people with the same interest. (And knowledge about the area)
Let this be an encouragement to any in Northern Italy, Bergamo / Milan area to arrange something like this.

Thanks for sharing this Thumbs Up

Clearly....Not!

Anyway, they're sunglasses. (Why do women wear sunglasses as a hair accessory most of the time?) Discovery 4 HSE

Yep that was a TDV8 HST model.

Someone did say that the planned engines are as follows:

5.0 V8 petrol (aimed at US market)
2.7TDV6 to go to 3.0 TDV6
3.6 TDV8 to go to 3.8 TDV8 Discovery 4 HSE

Forgot to mention, we each got a commemorative 60 years of Land Rover book and an eco friendly solar powered LED torch in a nice little presentation box. Discovery 4 HSE
