LED Sidelights

Just fitted a set of these:

2 Error Free Canbus T10 W5W 501 5050 3 SMD LED White Car Side Light Bulbs

From the bay of fleas - used them for sidelights - they don't put any warnings on the dash - but they are uselessly dim. In sunlight (Feb sunlight in the murkey Easy Midlands) they aren't visible at all...

What a waste of money - also tried two in the downlighters in the footwells. Another waste of time.

So are there any LED lights worth fitting?

For sidelights have a search on eBay for "T10 13SMD 5050 CANBUS" - I just put a pair of these LEDs in and the brightness is good (brighter and whiter than the original bulbs).

I'm wondering however, if they will fail the rumoured enhanced MOT for not being OEM ?

I agree, mine are also not really very bright, DLR's they aint, but as sidelights they are OK and a much better colour than the originals which was the only reason I changed mine, couldn't stand the dim orange look. This post made me start to wonder why we have sidelights on the front at all, as I think you need to have your headlamps on nowadays in all circumstances except parking.

I might be wrong, often am, if so let me have it right between these eyes Shocked Geoff

I think you have bought either defective lights or cheapy copies that are not upto the job... I have them throughout my interior and they are far brighter than standard and have lots of customers with them in their side lights and they always look good and bright... So, i think you've bought duds...

Craig Thumbs Up

Just to avoid any misunderstanding - i did buy cheap, I am cheap - ask SWMBO. Nevertheless I am happy, as for me they are a nice colour (blue). Yes, they do get washed out in a bright light but so what, they look great at night and in the February gloomy days alongside the headlights.

I would however appreciate a recommendation for just the sidelights for future reference as I don't want a full kit, it was just the sidelights that bugged me other lights are fine as they are.

Thanks Thumbs Up Geoff
