03 TD6 xenon lights / gearbox probs?

Hi everyone, I am after some advice please.
Thinking of changing my wifes P38 dhse to 03/04 TD6, i have 2 questions
[A] we live in France, so can you just switch the xenons to L/H drive, as i did with my 05/BMW M3?
[B] The car I am going to look at is an 03 TD6 with 63k on it, but since doing some internet research, it seems that there is a problem with the gearbox on these, is this widespread or just a small percentage?

I really do not want to go to all the trouble of importing, etc to find that I then need to spend uwards of £2500
to fix. We love Range Rovers and have had 3 dhse P38`s and 2 4.4 vogue`s. But that was back in the UK, with a really good independant garage close by. If it goes bang over here, I am at the mercy of main dealer 60km away.

Any advice greatly appreciated as am viewing in the UK this week

yes you can switch the xenons to left hand drive but this only shields the beam and is not a permanent solution..you need proper lhd headlight units for that..

as for the gearbox, you could look for a fullfat with a recon which are normally replaced around the 100k miles mark or take your chance..boxes do last for much longer.. ... - .- -.

England 2002 Range Rover HSE Td6 Giverny Green

Hi and welcome! I ran a p38 diesel county for about six years and loved it. Left rangies for a while then returned last may with the purchase of an L322 td6 hse .
Mine had a gap in the service history so I had a full service done after driving it for afew weeks to check it out. I had the gearbox flushed also, as it had 90,000 on the clock.
I am thrilled with the car and it makes me smile to drive it. I would highly recommend a full fat

Portugal 2002 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black

My gearbox has recently been overhauled, but I bought my 2002 TD6, when it had 223,000 km on the clock. 2owners before me, so not much ownership changing which I think is a good sign. I do however have an excellent indie about an hour's drive away from me.
There has been comment on the forum regarding " just adequate performance" By owners of TD8 's and S/C's. I find economy excellent and it has terrific road holding (especially now with my new Vredestein4 Wintrac extra tyres. ) Ilive in a hilly area with fast long curves, and easily loose Citroens,Audi's on this terrain.
Lots of informative DIY postings, and encouragement from guys like Joe90 !
I don't think you should worry about 63,000km. 2002 Vogue TD6

That's a low mileage '03 Smile

RRPhil (FFRR Gearbox Guru) recommends gearbox oil change @ every 25,000 miles and filter every 50,000 miles (if I remember correctly) in order to keep the GM gearbox in good order, and help to preserve it well beyond the 90,000 miles limit of death Wink

However, you may need to factor in the cost of a gearbox replacement at some point.

Otherwise look for petrol model of that age, or post '05 diesel with different box. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
