Yep, I've got one.

It's great for playing your music, viewing photos and renting movies. Movie rental is not cheap, but it's much more convenient than driving to blockbusters or posting movies back to love film etc.

You can also mirror your iPad 2 display on your tv so its quite nice for surfing with friends.

At only £99 it's a bargain.

I use a home media PC and things called Torrents Very Happy

Seriously a few people have them at work and like them but they find they spend more money on their itunes accounts once they get them all plumbed in!!

Best get into buying the discounted vouchers on ebay if you get one mick or shares in apple lol FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have one, as Justin has said they are a great way of getting media from iTunes or mirroring the iPad screen onto your TV. You can also get youtube, movie trailers etc.

I use it all the time - stream movies/music/photos from my mac in the office to the big screen using the house wireless. Works a treat but then I am an apple fan...... "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

I have Apple TV and use it to AirPlay music to the home cinema system from my iPad. AirPlay is great, I've just got a B&W Zeppelin Air...Wow, what a sound. I send music and Internet radio to it from iPad, iPhone and MacBook Air.

For £99, Apple TV is good value. Current MY2020

I think it's worth noting a few things here:

1. Apple TV needs an HDMI cable to work. A good one is around £40.

2. If planning to play your iPod choons through your TV you'll need, if not already done so, decent speakers and an amplifier.

I had to buy both for mine. Naturally, a decent amp came first and then some speakers that Mrs Bellini bought me (but soon to be upgraded) and then a good subwoofer.

So £100 is only the start if you, like me, have or had none of the above. Worth it, though. Si. <This is my name.

Bellini, you don't need to spend silly money on an expensive HDMI cable. Unlike SCART which uses an analogue signal and where cable quality makes a difference,HDMI transmits digital data (1/0) so there is no difference between a £5 or a £50 cable. TV encodes the digital data to produce the picture etc.

£5 Sad you can get them for less than that - 2 quid on eBay and I bet if Lidl sold them ......................

Also it depends on your listening, yes for critical evenings with a glass of wine maybe a nice HiFi setup, but you have the compromises of MP3 to put up with. I often just use in through the telly, speakers are OK there is a sub in there somewhere, particularly in the morning when I am walking around in my dressing gown scratching my Censored - like now!

Sorry guys that probably is too much information Very Happy Geoff

The Apple TV box has an Optical Out which I connect into my BluRay 2.1 surround sound system so no need to put the TV on at all. Current MY2020
