I got an Arcan 3t one from Costco for use at home, it's shallow enough to get under low cars but crucially, has just enough lift to get the wheels up off the ground when using it on a FFRR...

Ironic this thread has started as I had a puncture on Saturday, scissor jack bent under the weight and I had to use the AA to get me on my way.

That Arcan one is just the ticket. Pity there isn't a Costco near me.

As the RR scissor jack stows easily in the boot, I would like to keep mine in it's place. Would it be possible , worthwhile, to remove and weld thicker sections in place of the weaker struts? Any idea of what thickness the replacement arms should be? Where does the metal usually fold- I presume always in the same place ?

Before the L322 Range Rovers had bottle jacks. Scissor jacks were, I guess, a cost cutting exercise Regards

Not sure but I think what I'd do is raise the car on the air suspension, insert jack to touch the jacking point, lower car to access height. Would this cause a problem? |
