I have searched through the other heated seat articles, but cannot find one linking to the issue I have with mine. When switched on it warms up but seems to get too hot to touch, I was wondering if the element has moved too close to the leather, but from the other comments the electrics is wired into the leather.

Is there any way to lessen the heated seat power? (other than the 2 stage button, both settings are too hot after warm up even through thick jeans).

Has anyone else had the same issue?

Note: the seats are the pre facelift ones on an 04/05 car. Tom

Yesterday I was looking at the settings menu of the car (Faultmate software) for Bergxu and I noticed that there is a setting that controls the seat temperature. The seat temp can be set to medium and hot in that menu. It is for the MY02-09 range so yours sits right in the middle of that. If you know anyone with a T4 (dealer) or Faultmate or one of the other systems that allow setting changes you can ask them to check and set the temp medium. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Nice one, I will look into that, was worried that there was something wrong with it, but if you are in arctic conditions I guess the high setting can be useful through all the clothing layers. Tom

Only last week i had to change the rear swab on an 04 "54" FFRR as the seat heater had started to catch fire! It had burnt the seat cushion inside the seat! so maybe worth checking further on your car... The affected areas were black and crispy!

So possibly something serious then, is it fairly straight forward to get access to the seat interior/remove the seat covers? Tom
