Stereo replacement 2003 TD6 HSE | |
A few weeks back I think I posted a request for information on replacing the stereo with a modern DIN mount one.
Any way here are my results.
And I have no financial interest in any of the companies below. They are the only ones that replied to my emails asking about products to do this job. I could not find any that listed on their websites as having plugs etc for the L322.
To maintain the function of the dash computer display I drilled a 25mm hole in the dash top behind the speaker grill and fed the computer cable into that. It sits behind the grill and when I need to alter anything I pop the grill pull the plug out and plug the computer control in.
First up I needed the fascia panel to replace the factory unit

This is the plug that I needed to fit into the loom of my 2003 L322 TD6 HSE

As I was fitting a Pioneer headunit I needed this adaptor to fit between the stereo and stalk interface adaptor that is part of above

The Pioneer adaptor to ISO adaptor that was supplied was wrong, Pioneer have 2 fittings on the back of their stereos and mine was the other one. I got one locally. This plugs into the black and brown plug on the loom plug
Also with the wiring being BMW an aerial adaptor was needed

All up it took 1/2 hour to change the stereo. Now I have Bluetooth handsfree phone use stereo that I can plug Iphone or USB into for music etc. It also looks a lot tidier in my opinion.
The stereo which I had fitted into my 300TDi Discovery 3 weeks beofre buying the TD6 is a Pioneer DEH7350BT.
Thanks
Adrian
