So my ctek arrived and car is now charging up - one quick question I assume the 95Ah Land Rover battery in there is a straight forward lead acid thing and I can use the recon function?

I have ordered the 12s plug and will keep you posted - got to say car looks a bit sad with mouth open, much better to stealthily insert something in its rear when no one is looking Embarassed Geoff

Ctek was on 7 (never got to 8 ) this morning after leaving connected overnight, activated the FBH whilst it was still connected, stayed on 7 for a while and then dropped back to 4 (7 is only a trickle for a fully charged battery)l. Disconnected after 1/2 an hour car with FBH still on, unlocked and started no problem, lovely and warm inside.
Case closed Very Happy Geoff

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but what model of CTEK did you use Geoff? And how did you adapt the cables to be able to plug in through the towing socket?

I have experienced numerous faults this week (ABS fault/Park brake fault/HDC Inactive/Transmission Fault/Transfer box fault/special programs off) which have all resolved themselves. When I checked out the fault codes with my local friendly independent specialist we found loads of codes relating to insufficient voltage for communication between the various ECU's in the car Shocked
I had thought that my new alternator and Bosch 110 amp battery last winter would have prevented this type of problem, but I guess making short journeys is killing the battery and not really providing sufficient time for the alternator to recharge.
Independent Landrover Services in Preston have kindly lent me a CTEK XS 3600, which I have plugged into the car at the moment and hopefully this will resolve most of my issues along with my rechecking the battery connections etc.
I should also say that my alternator seems to be kicking out sufficient voltage, about 14volts and when tested under full load (everything electrical on full power) was still pushing out 12.5 volts at tick over - so I initially suspect the battery.

I guess that as the CTEK they have lent me is only the xs 3600 model, it will only put out 3.6A so will take quite some time to restore my battery...
