I posted this on the Defender forum, but lots of you here also know what you are doing. Any help gratefully received.

Any pointers on how to actually set up this separate fused feed, what parts I will need etc?

There are several ways to do this, again if it were me I would look at the fuse box and see if there was any available empty fuse holders then buy the relevant parts to make the holder actually work as it should, were talking a pound or two in costs for a fuse and holder.

+1 above: plus I'd also rather stick a soldering iron under my fingernail than have scotchlocks anywhere in my car.
