Cupholder question!

Yes, it's a bit random for a Friday afternoon; in fact random for any time of the week!

The cupholder on the passenger side, by the air vent, the cartridge one which slides out - is it supposed to have any sort of "base" to it? Mine has a little flap on a spring which would do no more than stopping the container in the cupholder from rattling around, but you could only put into the holder a taperede cup, such as a coffee shop paper mug, as there is nothing to hold it underneath. A can of drink, for example, would fall straight through.

I took it out the other week and had a proper look underneath and there's no obvious sign of anything having been snapped off. What's yours like??

My TD6 had a base, it folded out when the unit pops open, then had a sprung loaded flap on the top part that was designed to grip the cup/can etc Discovery 4 HSE

Mine has a Base , plus you can adjust the grip on the cup / can holder at the top end … i.e. larger or smaller holder Thumbs Up

As above the base should drop out as you pop the unit out, its got a X pattern on it for grip and they are usually quite mucky if they are ever used(saw it on a few dealer RR's i checked out Sad ) best bet is a breakers Cappo as they arent in big demand i wouldnt think Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Mine had a base until a passenger dropped a small pepsi bottle into it, breaking it off as it fell through to the floor. Big Cry Even though it didn't make any real difference, it irritates me when things don't work as they should, so I replaced the whole unit. IIRC it was between £30 and £40 from Dan, and was easy to fit. Now passengers are told that if they need to use the cup holder for a bottle or a can, they should put it in carefully.
You'd wonder why such an expensive car has such a piece of cheap tat in it.

I'll ask Dan then - I know they are £72 as mentioned above from PowerfulUK, and for that price MrsC might just have to hold her cup herself!!

Did you know you can extend it too by pulling the left side out to take larger drinks bottles...
