Jaguar s type

Hi all I just wanted some advice
I have a jaguar s type 3.0 se and I've got a rubbing maybe vibrating sound from the front o/s that seems to get louder with speed and the sound speeds up with the car but when you turn right the sound stops
Any ideas guys as I'm not sure I did think maybe wheel bearing but it seems fine and did just pass MOT today "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

Ignore play as i've been thru MANY many bearings and a lot can run dry or even get a bit of water in and thats the grease washed out of them Sad

Another way to test is to jack it up and remove the wheel and use a drill with the right socket on the end to spin it up to a decent speed Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I had something similar on an merc e-class, it turned out to be a bent wheel. No-one else could hear it as it was on the driver's side, they could hear it when I switched the wheels over to the passenger's side, but then I couldn't! New wheel cured it.

You can hear it if you in the boot let alone on the other side
To be fair I thought wheel bearing but was a bit unsure as the noise is not the norm for a wheel bearing "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

Does it get worse when you turn right? If so that's a sure sign that the bearings on the way out, on the other hand I have had what could be described as a bearing sound, increased with speed and it turned out to be a wear indicator on a front brake pad, just a thought. Stand for something or fall for everything !

It may well just require adjusting or repacking with bearing grease, normally as you turn it will load the bearing putting more pressure on it creating a louder sound, it's been a while since I have had much to do with bearings to be honest, so does it go quiet when you turn in either direction? Or just when you turn right just trying to think of the load increase to it, this is the right front correct? So a right turn should ease the load a little and a left would load it, as the weight of the car and turning forces increase. If it is just an adjustment it's not a difficult job to do, raise the car on the side to be adjusted remove the wheel, remove the dust cover on the hub bearing you should see a split pin remove this and tighten the castleated nut and spin the brake roter, your looking for it to spin freely and not to bind if it does bind back it off a little until it spins free then reinsert the split pin and dust cover ( if the holes do not line up tighten to the next available hole ) refit the wheel and spin it again. If you check on line you may well find a clip of this being done doesn't really matter about the make or model the principles are the same. Hope this helps a little. Stand for something or fall for everything !
