Rob Young is the chap to talk to. He has done 3 or 4 range rovers for me, plus 2 997 turbos and our RS6 (he should be able to identify us from that collection!), so ask for our "friends of DMS" rate!

please allow a poor Discovery 1 owner his tuppence worth here.
I have not seen any mention of fuel supplier mentioned so far.I will NOT use supermarket fuel at any cost in my 300Tdi engine and on the Discovery forums there has been a lot of talk about poor mileage from them.. Personally I use Shell and where i can get it i occasionally use Shell V power diesel.Just Google Shell V power and read the answers.
Enjoy this forum very much as i would dearly love a Vogue-------but just have to keep wishing at the moment.

I personally wouldn't worry too much about the 300tdi and fuel quality ... its a very robust engine that 300tdi and unless you've tuned it up very finely, its not in the same league as the modern diesels like the Tdv8 which have much much higher tolerances ( and in which cases I can see where you are coming from re fuel quality).

By robust, I mean: I once whipped the injectors out of my old tdi and used my finger nail to scrape the crud off the injector nozzles so that all 3 holes could be seen again. The performance improvement was quite noticable. I cant really imagine doing that with ah Tdv8 Laughing V8 or else ...

DMS done loads of cars for me , only issue i had was with a 2010 TDV8 but never got to the bottom of it if it was the map or other issues before the car got rejected back to Land Rover Sad

Not doing my 4.4 TDV* at the mo its just so good as standard with power and MPG realy do not see the point at the mo.

Mike , Rob etc all really good guys. Rob knows me from Turbo Porka days and getting part numbers off me after he saw my 997TT Far to many gone...

Generally tried and avoid Sainsburys in the FF, the SSS i drive rarely gets treated to their petrol and not super and does about 36mpg...
using super it gets about 38but not worth the price hike...

Ref what diesel, I only use BP Ultimate in my TDV8, it runs much smoother, is quieter and pick up is better too. It does offer a small increase in mpg over standard diesel but only about 1 mpg. I think the improvements in driveability are worth it, even the extra 15p per litre i pay Sad

Ref the remap, i have emailed the general DMS email address and now the rob@dms address in the thread and no replies either time. Poor if you ask me Censored

Im going to wait and see how the Bluefin feels and performs after i get a big service this coming week Thumbs Up

So your paying about 1.53p/litre for fuel Shocked thats air 25% more than I pay....

Carlos just book it in for JE as they always get good reviews and reports even if there are issues with the remap Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Yes, my local BP garage is £1.52.9p per litre, Shell about 10p cheaper and Tesco about 13p cheaper.

I opted for the Bluefin as a) I got a good deal on it and b) JE are many miles away, adding circa £100 to the cost.

I don't know if the need for a service and subsequent engine / gearbox software update is causing the reduced mgp or not so will remove the remap, get the service and updates then re install and see how it goes.

I woudnt say I'm dissapointed as such, I just haven't see the 10% improvement others report from JE / DMS etc

Its one of those things though. Ideally a remap needs to be done whilst you drive it or on a rolling road to be able to push the unit to the extremes they need to map for, IE full load all the way down to partial load. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.
