Bringing wife to England for honeymoon

Gentlemen,

I am thinking about bringing my lovely bride to England for our honeymoon. I did a study abroad program in London when I was in college and subsequently traveled back there on work duties a few times over the years, however have not been back in a while and was thinking some sort of a getaway to the English countryside would be nice. Since all my time there has been concentrated in London, I was wondering if some if you chaps might mind to offer some suggestions on relaxing and/or romantic places to take me lady. She has never been to the UK, so we'll stay in London for a couple of days so she can take in the sights and smells there, but then I'd like to get the heck out of there and head north (or whichever direction you natives recommend!). We might like to rent a small cottage for a week or else stay in an historic manor or castle somewhere rural. Also, wouldn't mind sneaking in a visit to Solihull or even Crewe whilst we're there, and if I save that for the end, I don't think she'd mind Smile

Thanks all for any input. Most graciously appreciated. Cheers,

Aaron

Have a look here. http://www.hillbarkhotel.co.uk/ It's probably the best hotel on the Wirral. About 30-40 mins from Crewe, 20mins to Liverpool, and about 45mins to Manchester. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Head west along the M4 (Freeway)and within an hour from London you have great countryside adn hotels. Or go up the M40 and head to Oxford or the Cotswolds. THere are great restaurants and hotels all around there (manoir a quatre saisons in Lower Slaughter for example). Or head along the Thames river. Also try BATH (great georgian city with lots of history.) you are more than welcome to pop in for a cup of tea (or cawfee) at mine if you do go to Bath! Thumbs Up

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, keep them coming! Oh, I should ask; if we come in late August to early September, what can we expect the weather/temps to be like? Around here, it's typically between 70 and 80 degrees F that time of year.

Googsy, that is an option. I have been to Dublin myself but nowhere else on the Emerald Isle. She is of Irish descent, so I know she would like it as well, but remember I'm trying to sneak in some car factory visits and I don't know if the defunct DMC factory in Belfast is on the list Wink but absolutely Ireland is open for consideration...wouldn't mind me a new Peterson pipe.... Whistle Cheers,

Aaron
