Some Old Girls...

I went to collect a grille on Saturday morning for iozrob as it was near to where I live and took some pictures of some of the other Gems that were there.
The first (and most unusual) is this ’84 2 door in classic poo brown. It was owned by the Metropolitan Police as an unmarked surveillance vehicle for most of it’s live. There are lots of add ons including the plates on the bonnet for spot lights and ‘u’ clips on the bumper and roof that were apparently for some sort of frame. It was subsequently used as an offroad training vehicle after its street life had come to an end. It’s got a fully documented 45k miles with all the release papers from the Police included.
All that in itself is interesting enough but the most interesting fact is that it’s actually an ’82 model and spent the first two years of its life doing something else. The speculation is that is was initially a Royal Vehicle. I spotted that it had two black grommet holes in the corner of each wing and suggested that they were for diplomatic flag holders. The owner is unsure. Anyway, I’m going to do a bit of digging around and see what I can find out. I’ve asked him if he’s interested in selling it so we’ll see this week…..

Really like this… If he doesn’t want to get rid of the Brown one, I might have to see if he'll part with this instead….

Please stop posting pictures of classics in need of love and attention. It's potentially very bad for my bank balance and marriage.... Wink
